"These guys really do know how to write a big hook"
- Dean Jackson , BBC Introducing Nottingham
"Blending infectious hooks and shattering riffs, Notts alt-rockers Shadows Like Strangers sure pack a punch"
- The Bodega
"We're Shadows Like Strangers, a band from the North of England."
"We write honest and telling songs of our experiences. We're Inspired by the works of The Neighbourhood, U2, Coldplay, No Devotion & Linkin Park - the common denominator between these bands is atmosphere and that's always been something we've been concise about when writing music. We write our songs to help you escape.'
The band was founded in 2018 by Jezza Bruce & Paul Davies, both songwriters and multi-instrumentalists who met whilst studying Popular Music Production at The University Of Huddersfield in 2009.
On March 18th 2018 the band released their debut single "The Space Between Us" which was shortly followed by the "Night Vision E.P" on April 12th 2018. The band released their first full length project entitled "CALI" independently on February 1st 2019. CALI largely comprised of songs from the Night Vision EP with several additions including the single "A Way Home" which proved to be a departure from the bands usual sound. In the main the project was produced by Russ Hayes of Orange Sound Studios in Penmaenmawr, NW.
The band began working with renowned songwriter and producer Stuart Richardson of No Devotion in late 2019 before releasing "Leave Me In The Shadow" on March 13th 2020, a single inspired by the 2018 movie Wildlife starring Jake Gyllenhaal. The band cited that for personal reasons, amidst the global pandemic that writing had been slowed but not halted as they continue to work with Richardson on new music.
